Tradition!

Yesterday I worked during the day at the Waldorf College Library. In the morning there was a convocation held in the Atrium to open the academic year. The Waldorf Wind Symphony entertained before the program and the academic procession. All the professors, in cap and gown, followed the cross bearer, the ceremonial mace bearer, and 7 flags representing the countries of students attending Waldorf. New students might think this ceremony is kooky but they will come to treasure the tradition.

The professors formed 2 lines and freshman students walked through the lines to their seats. It was really neat. There are 300 new students at Waldorf this year. there was a little pastor/audience response, performance by the combined Waldorf choirs, and then the President of the College gave a welcome.

Waldorf College is now under the auspicious of Columbia Southern University and the President of CSU, Robert Mayes, Jr., gave the convocation address. More choir. Raymond Beebe, Waldorf Foundation Board President, offered a few words of encouragement to new students and presented them with an inspirational book.

The Waldorf College Alma Mater was sung and prayers given. Then the professors exited. Again, it was a very nice program. I love academia!

Today I start the night hours at Waldorf. By day I'm a quick-witted, dedicated teacher-librarian and by night, a well-mannered academic librarian.

Well, better get going!
We'll talk again...
Love ya, Theresa
