The Gate of Winter

Wow! It's been a long time since I've written any tidbits! Halloween, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving Day are history! Now on to the winter holidays! We stand at the gate of winter, awaiting the blast of cold air and white flakes. Not my favorite season! Turn the latch, open the gate and get ready..... HERE COMES WINTER!
Halloween was a blast! I traveled to Nora Springs for their annual Fall Harvest Day. I joined Terri A., her sister Kim K. & Deb D. as we walked thru the vendors and their wares. We stopped at The Elephant Keg for a few cool drinks and then on to Terri's house to get ready for the trick or treaters. I dressed up as a witch, Terri was a spiderweb woman, and Kim was a devil. Terri had decorated her backyard in the Halloween spirit. The treaters (and their parents) loved the "Halloween Garden!"
Veterans Day was very red-white-and-blue. THANK YOU, Sailors, Soldiers, & Marines! I read a book called America's White Table by Margot Theis Raven to the elementary class. A very nice tribute to MIA's and POW's.
On NOV 20, Lynne flew to Washington D.C. to stay with Marie. Marie is finishing up her internship with the Discovery Channel/TLC. They toured the area. Marie returns to Colorado this upcoming week. Along with our trip to the airport, Terri and I went shopping at the Mall of America. Too many people! We also went to the Underwater Adventure and ate at Kokomo Cafe. We stayed overnight and stopped by Cabela's on the way home. It was my first time at Cabela's! I did pick up some Christmas gifts, tho.
For Thanksgiving, Geoff and I traveled to Milford to visit my Dad/Geoff's Grandpa. We went out to eat at Perkins. We were supposed to go on NOV 23 but the weather did not cooperate. Very icy. Then we tried on the 24th. (still bad weather - area schools in session got out early) We finally made it on the 25th. We returned the next day as Geoff needed to pick up Lynne at the airport in Mpls. No, I did not shop on Black Friday! I hardly even got to visit with Lynne during the TD break however, as she went back to college too soon.
This next week I'll be presenting a tech workshop for the staff at WH. The topic is blogs and blogging. I'll be doing several more workshops about free online books, Wordle, Glogster and Animoto.
I promise to keep in touch more often! I hope your autumn holidays were full of goodies and love!

Until next time -
Theresa
